Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder softball team closed out its season on Tuesday with a pair of victories against North Park University. Wheaton won the opener 9-3 and took the second game 8-2. With today's sweep Wheaton closes the season with a six-game winning streak to end the year at 21-19 overall and 7-7 in the CCIW.
Wheaton was a 9-3 victor in the first game as the Thunder scored nine runs, on 13 hits, with one error and North Park scored three runs, on five hits, with two errors. Senior pitcher
Kim Hegna (8-6) earned the victory in her final collegiate start. Hegna allowed three runs, with two earned runs, on five hits, with four strikeouts. Senior
Beth Miller picked up the save with two innings of scoreless relief as she held the Vikings hitless and struck out four.

Trinity Pierce (PICTURED RIGHT) was 2-for-3, with two runs and two RBI as she smashed a home run over the scoreboard in centerfield. Pierce's round tripper was the 23rd of her career, as she leaves Wheaton second on the school's all-time home runs list. Catcher
Kay Oliver was 3-for-4, with a run scored. Freshman leadoff hitter
Adrienne Munoz was 3-for-4, with two doubles as she scored twice.
Wheaton earned an 8-2 victory in the second game as the Thunder scored eight runs, on 12 hits, with an error. Senior
Sara Hoffman (3-3) allowed two runs, with just one earned run, on four hits, with three strikeouts to earn the win. Miller pitched three effective innings of scoreless relief to earn the save as she scattered two hits, with four strikeouts. Miller's save was her third of the season and the seventh of her career as she leaves Wheaton tied for the school's career saves lead with Amy Wallace (1995-98).
Senior outfielder
Lauren Hein was 3-for-4, with two doubles as she drove in a run and scored another run. Senior
Sarah Callicutt was 2-for-4, with three RBI and a run scored. Both of Callicutt's hits were doubles to give her 12 on the year and 31 in her career, the fourth-highest career doubles total in school history. Munoz continued her strong hitting with a 2-for-3 effort, with a double and two runs scored.
Alissa Sharp was 2-for-2, with a triple as she scored a run and also drove in a run.
