Thunder softball team falls to Bellevue, 8-2

The Thunder softball team dropped an 8-2 decision to Bellevue University (Neb.) in its first game of Tuesday's action at the Sun West Tournament. Bellevue scored eight runs, on nine hits, with three errors and Wheaton scored two runs, on nine hits, with five errors. Wheaton is now 0-3 on the year and will face Pitt-Bradford later on Tuesday.

Pitcher Christine Williams started the game for the Thunder, with 2-2/3 innings of work. She allowed two earned runs, with six runs total, on five hits, with four walks and two strikeouts. Senior Beth Miller pitched 3-1/3 innings of relief, allowing one earned run, with two total runs. She scattered four hits, walked one batter and struck out one.

Shortstop Kelli Hennessey was 3-for-4, with a stolen base. Sophomore Alissa Sharp was 2-for-4 at the plate and catcher Kay Oliver was 1-for-2, with a double.
