Softball falls to Haverford 6-3

The Thunder softball team lost a 6-3 decision to Haverford College on Monday in its second game of its opening day of participation at the Sun West Tournament. Haverford scored six runs, on 11 hits, with one error and Wheaton plated three runs, on six hits, with one error. Wheaton is now 0-2 on the year and will play two more games on Tuesday, facing Bellevue University and Pitt-Bradford.

Freshman pitcher Maggie Brockman took the loss in 3-2/3 innings of work as she allowed four runs, with three earned runs, on eight hits, with two strikeouts. Senior Kim Hegna pitched an inning of relief, allowing two runs, on two hits, with a strikeout and a walk. Beth Miller (PICTURED) tossed 1-1/3 innings of relief, allowing no runs and just one hit. Singles by six different Thunder players accounted for Wheaton's six hits in the game.
