Decatur, Ill. - The Wheaton women's basketball team lost a 62-36 decision at Millikin (16-6/8-3) on Tuesday night. Wheaton is now 11-11 on the year and 3-8 in CCIW play. The Thunder will host Carthage on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM in King Arena. Saturday's game will be broadcast on WETN radio and WETN-TV, with streaming audio and video at www.wetn.org. Freshman Kelly Brooks led the Thunder with eight points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field, with five rebounds. Senior Katie Heddell (PICTURED) contributed six points on two three-point field goals. Annie Bowen, Carissa Bacon and Noelle Dryden each scored four points, as Bowen collected four rebounds.
Millikin All-American Lindsay Ippel led the Big Blue with 27 points, with 12 rebounds and four assists. Kelley Steers scored 12 points, with six rebounds. Elise Wildman and Megan Mateer each scored six points, with four rebounds.
Millikin shot 44.6% (25-56) from the field, with 27.8% (5-18) from three-point range and 70% (5-7) at the free throw line. Wheaton posted a 21.2% (11-52) field goal percentage, with 18.2% (2-11) from three-point range, with 70.6% (12-17) at the charity stripe. Millikin held a 49-26 edge in rebounding, with a 13-6 advantage on the offensive glass.
