Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Pete Ittersagen has been recognized as an All-American at cornerback by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for the second consecutive season. Ittersagen is the 10th player from Wheaton to earn All-American recognition from the AFCA and the Thunder football program has had a player selected to the AFCA Division III All-American team for each of the past six seasons. Earlier this month Ittersagen was named as the North Region “Defensive Player of the Year” by D3football.com and was a First Team All-Region selection as both a cornerback and return specialist and he is a four-time All-CCIW honoree at cornerback. At cornerback, Ittersagen has recorded 65 total tackles this season, with 49 solo stops. He has three interceptions this season, with 12 passes broken-up. With 61 career passes defended, Ittersagen is among the all-time Division III leaders in the category. Ittersagen has been a dominating force in the return game this season with 992 total return yards and three kicks/punts for touchdowns. He has returned 25 punts for 464 yards, averaging 18.6 yards per return, with two touchdowns. He is currently second in Division III in yards per punt return. He has also racked up 528 yards on 20 kick returns for an average of 26.4 yards per return with one touchdown.

Ittersagen has returned a punt for a touchdown five times in his career, to hold Wheaton's career record for punts returned into the end zone. He has eight career returns for a touchdown in his career, with five punts, three interceptions returned for a touchdown and a kickoff returned for a TD. In his career, Ittersagen has 65 punts returns for 1,075 yards (16.5 YPR) and is Wheaton's career record-holder in punt return yardage.
