Lisle, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team split a pair of matches in the second day of action on Saturday at Benedictine's "Eagle Classic". Wheaton was one of three teams to finish atop the tournament standings with a 3-1 record on the weekend. Senior Lisa Jutsum (PICTURED) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Thunder, now 17-15 on the year, will travel to North Central on Tuesday night for a 7 PM match against the Cardinals in the Play-In match of the CCIW Tournament.
Wheaton opened its play on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-19) win against Aurora. Freshman Hannah Haskell led the Thunder with 10 kills, while Sarah McWilliams and Hannah McGinnis each added seven kills and Jutsum added six kills. Sophomore Ashlie Pace contributed 15 digs, while freshman Jenna McCallister had 27 assists, with 10 digs.
The Thunder dropped its final match in a 3-1 ( 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20) loss to Benedictine. Senior Kelli Miller recorded 11 kills, while Haskell added nine kills and Jutsim added seven kills. McCallister had a team-high 28 assists.
