Lisle, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team won a pair of matches on Friday at the opening day of action at the "Eagle Classic", hosted by Benedictine University. Wheaton opened its action with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22) win against Carrol (Wis.). The Thunder won its final match with a 3-1 victory against Adrian College, 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18). Wheaton will close out the tournament on Saturday with a match at 12 PM against Aurora University and a 2 PM contest against Benedictine.
In Wheaton's 3-1 win against Carroll, freshman Hannah Haskell led the Thunder with 13 kills and Sarah McWilliams added 12, while senior Kelli Miller had nine kills. Sophomore Ashlie Pace had 30 digs and freshman setter Jenna McCallister (PICTURED LEFT) contributed 53 assists.
Senior Lisa Jutsum led the Thunder in the win against Adrian with 16 kills. Haskell and Miller each collected eight kills in the win. Pace had 28 digs and McCallister distributed 35 assists. McGinnis had four total blocks, with six kills.
