Taryne Lee scored three times in the first half of Wheaton's win at North Park

Chicago, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team earned a 12-1 victory at North Park University (2-9/0-2 CCIW) on Monday night. Wheaton, ranked eighth in the most recent Division III Top-25, improves to 11-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the CCIW.

Tonight's 12 goals are the most by the Wheaton women's soccer program in 130 matches, dating back to a 15-0 victory at North Central in 2003. The 12 goals tonight is the third-most scored by Wheaton in a single match – behind only an 18-0 victory against Millikin in 1996 and the 2003 win at North Central.

North Park scored off of a corner kick in the first five minutes of the match to take a 1-0 lead. Wheaton countered with three goals in about a five-minute span to take a 3-1 lead. The Thunder scored seven goals in the first half to hold a 7-1 lead at halftime. All-American Taryne Lee scored three first-half goals to tally a hat trick in the victory. Freshman Ali Kopelman scored twice in the first half, while Maria Della Torre and MacKenzie Williams each put the ball into the net once in the first half.

Wheaton scored five times in the second half to account for the 12-1 final score. Williams scored twice in the second half to record her first career hat trick. Freshman Carrie Kishaba scored twice after halftime and freshman Kristen Clark scored her first collegiate goal in the win.

The Thunder will remain on the road Wednesday for a 3 PM CCIW match at Millikin University. Wednesday's match will be broadcast on WETN radio at 88.1 FM in the Wheaton area and on the internet at www.wetn.org.
