Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's basketball team dropped a 64-58 decision to Millikin on Tuesday night in King Arena. Wheaton falls to 8-6 overall and 0-3 in the CCIW. Millikin improves to 10-4 on the year and 2-1 in league play.
Millikin led the hosts 33-18 at halftime of the contest. The Big Blue led the Thunder 55-45 with 6:40 left in regulation. Wheaton scored nine unanswered points to cut the Big Blue lead to 55-45 with 4:00 left. Millikin closed out the game with a 9-4 scoring run to secure the victory.
Kathleen Fidelia (PICTURED) led the Thunder with 18 points and five rebounds. Forward Jamie Jones scored 11 points and sophomore Sarah Jones added nine points.
Lindsay Ippel scored 24 points, with eight rebounds. Kayla Pembrook contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Andrea Riebock scored seven points and distributed 11 points.
Wheaton shot 33.3% (20-60) from the field, with 36.4% (4-11) from three-point range and 73.7% (14-19) at the free throw line. Millikin posted a 47.1% (24-51) field goal percentage, with 46.2% (6-13) from behind the three-point arc and 62.5% (10-16) at the charity stripe. Millikin out-rebounded the Thunder 41-33 and each team collected 11 offensive rebounds.
