Top-ranked Thunder remains undefeated with a 1-0 win against Augustana

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team has remained undefeated after a 1-0 win against Augustana on Friday afternoon at Wheaton's Joe Bean Stadium. The victory was the 27th consecutive win for the Thunder, as the team holds the fourth-longest win streak in the history of Division III women's soccer. Wheaton's last loss was to Augustana, as the Vikings defeated Wheaton 2-1 in Rock Island on September 23, 2006.

Junior Kari Klynstra broke a scoreless tie when she scored the lone goal of the night, 75:17 into the match. Klynstra maneuvered through the Vikings' defense to put the ball into the net near the upper right post on the unassisted goal.

Wheaton out-shot Augustana 28-2 and held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Kristin Eggert recorded her third shutout of the season, making one save. Augustana netminder Keri Hess made 12 saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of work.

Wheaton, ranked number-one in Division III, improves to 9-0-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in conference play. Augustana is now 5-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.
