Wheaton, Ill. (3/31) - The Thunder women's tennis team kicked off its two-day Jack Swartz Memorial Tennis Tournament on Friday with a 9-0 victory against St. Mary's College (Ind). On Saturday Wheaton defeated Calvin College 9-0. With the wins Wheaton improves to a perfect 16-0 on the season. Head coach Jane Nelson's team is ranked 22nd in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III rankings and is the fifth-ranked team in the Central Region of Division III. The Thunder will host University of Chicago on Tuesday in key match at 3 PM. Chicago is ranked 24th in ITA Division III poll and ranked fourth in the ITA Central Region poll.
All-American Jordan Hook improved to 23-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Kelly McDavitt of St. Mary's at number-one singles on Friday and a 6-0, 6-1 win against Liz Geenen of Calvin on Saturday. Freshman Christin Thompson continued her impressive debut with a 7-5, 6-0 win against Camille Gebert of St. Mary's at number-two singles on Friday and earned a 6-0, 6-2 win against Calvin's Kari Lipinski on Saturday to improve to 7-0 on the season. Senior Karly Olson was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at number three singles on Friday and she picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win against Calvin's Allyson Logan on Saturday. Shannon Hale won both of her matches at number-four singles, Brook Parrish was a two-time victor at number-five singles and Brittney Dunn won a pair at number-six singles.
