Wheaton, Ill. (9/5) – The Thunder volleyball team opened the home portion of its 2006 schedule with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-23, 30-25) victory against Lake Forest on Tuesday night in King Arena. Tonight's victory was Wheaton's first win against the Foresters since 2001. Wheaton improves to 2-3 on the season, and will return to action this weekend when it is at Aurora University's “Jim Coleman Memorial Tournament”.
Sophomore Mallory Sullivan led the Thunder with 13 kills and she added 19 digs, with 37 service receptions. Sophomore Annie Himmelhaver had a team-high 29 assists, with 15 digs. Junior Leah Whiteley added a team-best 22 service receptions, led the squad with 21 digs and added three service aces. Himmelhaver and sophomore Lisa Jutsum each had six kills, while freshman Elizabeth Fox tallied four assisted blocks.
