Wheaton, Ill. (10/6) – The Thunder volleyball team narrowly missed earning a victory against Carthage College on Friday night as the Lady Reds defeated the Thunder 3-2 (30-25, 22-30, 30-21, 22-30, 15-13) in Wheaton's King Arena. Carthage entered tonight's match ranked 13th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Poll. Carthage is now 20-2 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Wheaton falls to 12-6 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Thunder will host Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday night.
Sophomore Mallory Sullivan led the Thunder with 14 kills and a team-high 20 digs, five service aces and four total blocks. Sophomore Lisa Jutsum recorded 10 kills with 12 digs. Setter Annie Himmelhaver made 34 assists and Elizabeth Fox recorded four total blocks. Sophomore Kelli Miller made a team-high five total blocks with seven kills. Calla Young made seven kills with four service aces and 16 digs.
