Rock Island, Ill. (9/26) – The Wheaton volleyball team earned its first CCIW victory of the season with a 3-2 ( 27-30, 30-12, 29-31, 30-28, 15-10) win at Augustana on Tuesday night. Wheaton improves to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW with the victory.
Tonight's win was the fourth consecutive victory for Wheaton and the team's ninth win out of its last 10 matches. The Thunder will remain in conference action on Thursday night when it will travel to North Central for a match at 7 PM against the Cardinals.
Sophomore setter Annie Himmelhaver led the Thunder with a team-high 39 assists. Freshman Elizabeth Fox recorded nine blocks on the night. Sophomore Kelli Miller made a team-high 16 kills, fellow sophomore Lisa Jutsum added 12 kills and Mallory Sullivan recorded 10 kills.
