Chicago, Ill. (10/4) – The Wheaton women's soccer earned a 5-1 victory at North Park on Wednesday night. Wheaton entered tonight's game ranked 17th in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III Coaches Poll. With the win the Thunder improves to 9-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. Wheaton will host Aurora on Friday afternoon at 4:30 PM on East McCully Field. Friday's match will be broadcast on WETN radio at 88.1 FM in the Wheaton area and on the internet at www.wetn.org.
Wheaton held a 3-1 lead at haftime thanks to two first half goals by freshman Taryne Lee and one goal for junior Sarah Richardson. Lee and Richardson each netted one goal apiece in the second half to account for the 5-1 final score. Lee now has seven goals on the season as she recorded her first collegiate hat trick tonight. Richardson leads the Thunder and the CCIW with 12 goals on the season.
