25th-ranked women's soccer team is a 4-1 winner at Loras College

Dubuque, Iowa – The Thunder women's soccer team used three second-half goals to earn a 4-1 win  at Loras College on Saturday night. With its third consecutive victory, Wheaton is now 4-1 on the season. The Thunder will travel to Greencastle, Indiana to face 10th-ranked DePauw University on Tuesday afternoon at 4 PM (EDT).

Junior captain Bethany Barton blasted a penalty kick into the net 24:03 into the match to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead. The Thunder would remain a 1-0 leader into the halftime intermission.

Loras tied the match at the 47:10 mark when the Duhawks' Maria Prendergast scored on a penalty kick. Wheaton used a strong scoring spurt over a seven-minute span to extend its lead to 4-1. Senior All-American Laura Koontz scored Wheaton's first goal of the second half when she netted her third goal of the season at the 49:25 mark of the match. Barton scored her second goal of the night 54:45 into the match when she put the ball into the net off of an assist by Maria Della Torre. Junior Sarah Richardson utilized an assist by Koontz to record her team-best seventh goal of the season at the 54:54 mark of the contest, increasing Wheaton 's advantage to the eventual 4-1 final score.

Wheaton out-shot the Duhawks 21-7, with a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Kristin Eggert made one save and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of action. Loras goalkeeper Torey Murray made seven saves and allowed four goals.
