Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College junior Andy Studebaker has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Football “Defensive Player of the Week”. This week's selection is the second time Studebaker has received the honor, he was also named “Defensive Player of the Week” on September 24, 2005.
Studebaker helped lead an impressive effort by the Wheaton defense in a 29-7 Thunder win against Albion College on Saturday. Studebaker recorded two quarterback sacks for minus-19-yards with three total tackles and a quarterback hurry. The 2005 All-CCIW pick also recovered a fumble in the second quarter of the victory against the Britons. Studebaker and the Wheaton defense held Albion to just 10 total rushing yards in the game.
