#24-Thunder men's basketball team wins 66-47 at IIT

The Thunder men's basketball team was a 66-47 victor at Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday night. Wheaton led IIT 21-20 at halftime, however, the Thunder used a full court press midway through the second half to pull away from the Scarlet Hawks.

Wheaton, ranked 24th in this week's D3Hoops.com Top 25, improves to 6-1 overall. The Thunder will travel to Wartburg College on Saturday for a 7:30 PM tipoff against the Knights. Saturday's game will be broadcast on WETN radio at 88.1 FM in the Wheaton area and on the internet at www.wetn.org.

All-American Kent Raymond led the Thunder with 28 points, five assists and nine steals. Sophomore Jacob Carwell scored 10 points with four assists. Junior Andy Wiele grabbed nine points, with nine rebounds, including four offensive boards. Ben Panner added seven points, with four assists.

Brandon Brandewie scored 15 points, with 15 rebounds and two steals to lead IIT. Wes Klockowski scored 11 points and Steve Koloko scored seven points.

Wheaton shot 36.8% (25-68) from the field, with 21.4% (3-14) from three-point range and 61.9% (13-21) at the free throw line. The Scarlet Hawks shot a 45.7% (16-35) field goal percentage, with a 62.5% (15-24) free throw percentage. Wheaton out-rebounded the hosts 40-32, with a 30-16 advantage in points off of turnovers.
