Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's basketball team improved to 4-1 on Tuesday night with a 63-52 victory against Ripon College in King Arena. Ripon falls to 2-3 on the season. Wheaton will travel to Holland, Michigan this weekend for the CCIW/MIAA Classic Women's Basketball Tournament. The Thunder will face Calvin College on Friday night at 6 PM (EST) and Wheaton will take on the host Hope College Flying Dutch on Saturday at 3 PM (EST). Hope is ranked fourth in this week's
D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll, while Calvin is the sixth-ranked team in the poll.

Wheaton never trailed in tonight's game, leading 32-21 at halftime. A three-pointer by Ripon's
Carissa Zuercher cut the Thunder lead to five points at 51-46 with 8:00 left in regulation. However, that would be the closest the Red Hawks could get as Wheaton countered with a 10-4 scoring advantage to take a 61-50 lead with 2:15 left in the game.
Freshman guard
Lissie McAlvey (PICTURED RIGHT) scored a career-high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Senior captain
Claire Glass scored 12 points with a 6-for-8 effort from the floor, adding five rebounds. Junior
Kathleen Fidelia scored nine points, with seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Junior center
Whitney Edgecombe scored nine points, while freshman
Annie Bowen added a team-high seven rebounds, with two blocked shots. Sophomore
Sarah Jones grabbed six rebounds and recorded four steals.
Jessica DeHamer led Ripon with 17 points, a game-high eight rebounds and four assists.
Jeni Yaeger scored 16 points for the Red Hawks.
Wheaton shot 43.5% (27-62) from the field, with 16.7% (2-12) from three-point range and 70% (7-10) at the free throw line. The Red Hawks recorded a 41.2% (21-51) field goal percentage, with 50% (3-6) from three-point range and 77.8% (7-9) at the charity stripe.
