Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 63-53 win against UW-Oshkosh on Friday night in King Arena. Friday's win was Wheaton's first-ever victory against the Titans in three meetings between the two teams. The Thunder will host UW-Stevens Point on Saturday at 2 PM in King Arena.
Junior center Whitney Edgecombe led the Thunder with career-highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. She also blocked three shots in the win. Junior Kathleen Fidelia scored 14 points, with seven assists and four steals. Guard Lynnea Kvam scored nine points, with five assists and four steals.
Tiffany Pugh led the Titans with with 16 points, including two three-pointers. Whitney Tyriver scored 10 points, with five assists. Michelle Boeder scored eight points and Rachel Williquette added six points.
Wheaton shot 41% (26-63) from the field, with 23% (3-13) from three-point range and 73% (8-11) from the free throw line. The Titans shot 43% (20-47) from the field, with 35% (6-17) from three-point range and a 50% (7-14) effort from the charity stripe. Wheaton out-rebounded the Titans 38-33.
