Wheaton Women's Basketball wins Pfund Tournament

Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's basketball team was a 63-56 winner against UW-Platteville in the Lee Pfund Classic Championship Game on Saturday. Wheaton improves to 2-0 on the year and UW-Platteville is now 1-1. The Thunder will resume action next Friday at 5 PM when the team will host UW-Oshkosh in King Arena.

Wheaton junior Kathleen Fidelia, (PICTURED) scored 28 points, with six assists and four steals. The guard was honored as the tournament MVP for her effort. Junior guard Lynnea Kvam, also an All-Tournament team member, scored 19 points, with five three-pointers and she grabbed three steals.

Lisa Grantman led the Pioneers with 24 points and six steals. Lisa Wubben added 15 points and three steals.

Wheaton shot 41.1% (23-56) from the field, with 37.5% from three-point range and 61.1% (11-18) at the free throw line. The Pioneers shot 35.7% (20-56) from the field, with 27.8% (5-18) from three-point range and 68.8% (11-16) at the free throw line. Wheaton out-rebounded the Pioneers 41-34.Freshman Annie Bowen led the Thunder with seven rebounds and she added two blocked shots.
