Dubuque, Iowa – The Thunder men's soccer team had its season ended on Saturday night in a 1-0 overtime loss at Loras College in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Tonight's contest was a re-match of a 1-1 two overtime tie between the two teams on Sept. 1 at Wheaton. Wheaton concludes the season with a record of 14-7-1 overall. Loras advances to next weekend's Sectional with a record of 21-0-1.
Wheaton out-shot the Duhawks 5-3 in the first half and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Each team took three shots in the second half, however, Wheaton took four corner kicks, to Loras's one. Wheaton had one shot in overtime, Loras took two shots and the second one was a 15-footer by the Duhawks' Mike Richter, 5:27 into the first overtime. Richter's shot was assisted by Miguel Bonilla.
