Bloomington, Ill. – The Thunder women's soccer team earned its 32nd consecutive victory with a 2-0 win at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday night. Wheaton improves to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in CCIW play. The Thunder has out-scored opponents 40-1 over its last nine matches. Wheaton has not allowed a goal over its last 391:04 of action.
The Thunder and the Titans battled through a scoreless first half. Taryne Lee gave Wheaton a 1-0 less than two minutes into the second half when she put the ball into the back of the net 46:30 into the match. Lee gave Wheaton an insurance goal 65:16 into the match to give the guests a 2-0 lead that would become the final score.
Wheaton out-shot the Titans 14-5 and the Thunder held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Kristin Eggert played all 90 minutes, with two saves in recording her fourth shutout of the season. Illinois Wesleyan netminder Alli Novak allowed two goals and made 10 saves.
