Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's soccer team (12-0-0/4-0-0) was an 8-0 winner against North Park on Tuesday night at Joe Bean Stadium. Tonight's win was the team's 30th consecutive victory to set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 29, set in 2004 and 2005. Wheaton's current winning streak is the longest active streak in Division III women's soccer and is the third-longest streak in Division III women's soccer history.
Sophomore Taryne Lee scored two first half goal in Tuesday's match. Libby Passiales, Kira Davis, Maria Della Torre and Hailey Partain also added first half goals as the hosts held a 6-0 lead at halftime. Elise Jakoby and Brittany Bergh added second half goals to account for the final score of 8-0.
Wheaton out-shot the Vikings, 31-2 and held a 15-0 edge in corner kicks. Senior Kristin Eggert played the first half in goal. Justine Morey, Allison Ippel and ingrid Erickson shared time in the Thunder net during the second half. Ippel made Wheaton's lone save.
