Thunder men's soccer team continues streak with a 4-1 win at UW-Oshkosh

Oshkosh, Wis.The Thunder men's soccer team utilized three late goals to earn a 4-1 victory at Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday night. Tonight's victory was Wheaton's sixth consecutive win. The Thunder improves to 9-2-1 overall. Wheaton will host the University of Chicago on Wednesday night at 7 PM.

Steve Poppe gave Wheaton a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the season 29:04 into the match. The Thunder held its 1-0 lead for the remainder of the first half. The Titans tied the match at 1-1 with a goal on a penalty kick by the hosts' Will Howell at the 71:45 mark of the match. Approximately five minutes later Wheaton's Strider Elass began a flurry of scoring for the Thunder with his with goal of the season at the 76:48 mark. Less than two minutes later Joel DeLass scored 78:20 into the match to increase Wheaton's lead to 3-1. Junior Ben Theimer (PICTURED) increased the lead to the eventual final score of 4-1 with a goal 84:53 into the match off of an Elass assist.

Wheaton out-shot the Titans 12-6 on the night, including an 8-4 edge in the second half. Wheaton held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper BJ Dons made four saves and allowed just the one goal on the penalty kick. Titans' goalkeeper Derek Christiansen made three saves and allowed four goals.
