Volleyball team advances to CCIW Tournament Semis with a 3-0 win at Elmhurst in play-in game

Elmhurst, Ill. (10/31) – The sixth-seeded Thunder volleyball team extended its season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-21, 30-26) win at third-seeded Elmhurst in a play-in match of the CCIW Volleyball Tournament. Wheaton improves to 19-11 on the year and Elmhurst ends its season with a record of 16-19.

Sophomores Lisa Jutsum (LEFT) and Kelli Miller each contributed a team-high seven kills and Miller added four total blocks. Setter Annie Himmelhaver (RIGHT) had 29 assists, with six kills, four blocks and 15 digs. Mallory Sullivan and Calla Young each recorded five kills and Leah Whiteley tallied a team-high 21 digs.

Wheaton will now face second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan (23-11) on Friday at 4:30 PM in CCIW Tournament Semifinal at Carthage College. Friday's other Semifinal will pit top-seeded Carthage (27-4) against fifth-seed Millikin (23-13) at 7 PM. The winner of each Semifinal from Friday will play in the CCIW Tournament Championship Match at 2 PM on Saturday at Carthage. The winner of the CCIW Tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
