Wheaton College Athletics

Megan Thornton is a senior defensive specialist and libero for the Thunder volleyball team. Megan played in all 36 matches for the Thunder last season and was second on the team with 30 service aces. Below is a brief interview with Megan.


Q: What is your major?
 
A: Mathematics and Secondary Education
 
Q: What (if any) plans do you have after graduation?
 
A: After graduating, I’m continuing my education at Wheaton with the MAT program, where I’ll be getting my masters in teaching over the span of a year.
 
Q: Why did you choose to attend Wheaton and play volleyball?
 
A: Wheaton was my first choice in every category except for location. Being from Wheaton, I thought that I shouldn’t go to college where I grew up, but I was excited about the Christian environment and the opportunity to play volleyball. The chance to play volleyball really was what helped me decide on Wheaton and I’m so glad I did :)
 

Q: What do you enjoy most about Wheaton?
 
A: I love the people!  Wheaton really is a special place. My friendships, both on and off the volleyball team, have been huge blessings in my life.
 
Q: What is your favorite volleyball memory so far in your time at Wheaton?

A: It is definitely hard to pick just one! But, our team trip to Guatemala where we got to serve together as a team and discover what God was already doing there was an incredible experience. Another great memory is when we beat Carthage in the CCIW tournament last year, and I am looking forward to what this last season holds for our team.
