Laura Westfall is a senior on the Wheaton women's swimming team. Below is a brief interview with Laura.
Q: What is your major?
A: Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish
Q: What (if any) plans do you have after graduation?
A: I don’t have anything specific lined up; however, I’d love to move back home and find a teaching job.
Q: Why did you choose to attend Wheaton and swim?
A: I first visited Wheaton for my sister’s swim meet. I honestly was so focused on my sister’s races that I didn’t pay attention to anything about the school. My mom ended up talking to a student and then strongly encouraged me to at least look into Wheaton. After learning more about the school, I completely fell in love. Deciding to swim was never a question. I have been a part of a swim team since first grade. I cannot imagine life without it.
Q: What do you enjoy most about Wheaton?
A: I love the community here at Wheaton. I am apart of an extremely tight group of about 50 swimmers, and each one of them is such a blessing to me. I also have a strong support group in the Education Department. There is a strong sense of love and genuine care for each other here at Wheaton and it all stems from God’s great love for us.
Q: What is your favorite swimming memory so far in your time at Wheaton?
A: Any time I am with my team, I always have a great time, so this is hard to pick just one. However, one of my favorite memories comes from our conference meet my freshman year, the girls’ team won by only three points. It was truly amazing how everyone came together and worked as one, and it has been like that every year since!
