Senior setter Jenna McCallister earned All-Conference recognition in 2010 and helped lead Wheaton to the Championship Match of the 2010 CCIW Tournament. Below is a brief interview with the Thunder setter.

Q: What is your major?
A: Applied Health Science Pre-PT

Q: Why did you choose to attend and volleyball at Wheaton?
A: One of the contributing factors to my decision to come to Wheaton was because of the opportunity I had to play volleyball. The community here was welcoming and loving, and I loved the emphasis people here put on establishing and deepening their relationship with Christ.

Q: What is your favorite thing about playing volleyball at Wheaton?
A: I have grown up playing the sport, and love the focus on the team. It’s a constant reminder that I will always have someone watching my back, that I am loved, and that this kind of fellowship is what Christ has called us to.

Q: What do you enjoy most about Wheaton?
A: The relationships that I have established throughout my three years here have been such an incredible and unique blessing. To be so involved and a part of a community of believers like this is something that comes very rarely and should never be taken for granted.

Q: What are your thoughts on the discipline required to balance life as a college athlete and student?
A: When in season, it takes a lot of focus and diligence to keep up with schoolwork, but I find myself a lot more productive and efficient in my work when I have a busier volleyball schedule. So, although it can be a lot, it doesn’t ever reach the point where it’s too much to handle. The little breaks we get in season always seem to come at the perfect time.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories of playing volleyball at Wheaton?
A: Besides our team activities, overnight games, and tournaments in various states, one memory resonates with me in particular: the night we beat Millikin and kicked them out of the CCIW conference championship. That was one of the sweetest, most memorable victories I’ve ever experienced while playing volleyball.
