The Wheaton football team announces newcomers for the 2016 season

Wheaton, Ill. - Head coach Mike Swider and the Wheaton College football staff have announced the addition of 26 newcomers that have submitted their deposit to attend Wheaton College, with the intent to play for the Thunder football team beginning in the fall of 2016. The newcomers will join the Thunder football program following its second-consecutive 10-0 regular season, CCIW Championship and NCAA Division III Playoff appearance in 2015.

Swider, the 2014 and 2015 CCIW and AFCA Regional Coach of the Year, states of the group, "It is with great excitement that Wheaton Football welcomes the addition of 26 new athletes to our team. This group represents12 different states from as far west as California, Nevada, and Washington state to Massachusetts and Virginia – from Michigan to south Texas. Once again the distinctiveness of a world class, Christ centered education along with a championship football tradition has attracted some excellent players from around the country. These recruits combined with the recruits from the past two years represent the best three-consecutive classes in my 31 years at Wheaton. There truly are some special  young men and exceptional athletes here at Wheaton."

Swider concludes, "We will enter the fall with 117 players on our roster. What continues to bring me the most joy however, is how God has faithfully provided us with individuals who are not only good football players, but also men who are yearning to grow in their walk with Jesus. They are highly motivated spiritually, academically, and athletically. They will represent Wheaton College well."
