Wheaton's Matt Snebold invited to the Atlanta Falcons' rookie minicamp

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton senior Matt Snebold has been invited to the Atlanta Falcons rookie minicamp that is slated to begin next weekend in Georgia. Snebold was a Second Team All-American selection in 2015 by D3Football.com at offensive tackle. A two-time All-North Region honoree from D3football.com, Snebold did not allow a sack over his final two seasons with the Thunder.

Last fall he became Wheaton's first semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy given annually to the top student-athlete in Division III football. A two-time First Team All-CCIW honoree, Snebold served as a team captain for the Thunder in 2015 helping to guide the program to its first-ever back-to-back 10-0 regular season campaigns.

Snebold had two opportunities to impress NFL scouts this spring. The lineman participated in Northwestern University's pro day on March 8 in Evanston, Illinois. He also participated in a pro day hosted by the Chicago Bears at the team's Halas Hall facility on April 14.

Snebold will become the fourth Wheaton player since 2008 to spend time with a NFL team when he reports to rookie minicamp next weekend. In 2008 Andy Studebaker was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In eight NFL seasons, Studebaker spent time with the Eagles (2008), Kansas City Chiefs (2008-12); Jacksonville Jaguars (2013); Indianapolis Colts (2013-14 &2015) and Tennessee Titans (2015). Pete Ittersagen signed with Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2009. Ittersagen spent the 2009 NFL preseason with the Jaguars and was signed as free agent by the Tennessee Titans in 2010, starting the 2010 season on the practice squad and later joining the active roster in December, 2010. In May, 2013 Wheaton graduate Jesse Peterson participated in a minicamp for the Carolina Panthers.
