#23-Thunder wrestling team defeats University of Chicago 30-13

Wheaton, Ill. –
The Wheaton Thunder wrestling team defeated the University of Chicago 30-13 in a dual match on Wednesday inside Wheaton's King Arena. Wheaton is ranked 23rd in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III poll.
 
Wheaton freshman Carlos Fuentez won the first match of night as he scored three points in the third period to rally and win an 8-5 decision against Chicago's Devan Richter at 125-pounds. Chicago earned an 8-0 major decision at 133-pounds to take a 4-3 lead in the team scoring.
 
16078Wheaton's Holden Thompson won a 5-2 decision at 141-pounds. The fourth match of the night went to Chicago's Mike McNulty at 149-pounds in a 6-3 decision that gave the Maroons a brief 7-6 lead in the team scoring.  
 
16079Thunder All-American Mark Savenok (PICTURED LEFT) won in a 23-7 technical fall at 6:07 of his match at 157-pounds. Savenok sparked a string of five consecutive wins for the Thunder and his win gave Wheaton an 11-6 lead in the team scoring. Stephen Aiello, an All-American for the Thunder in 2014, won a 12-3 decision at 165 pounds to extend Wheaton's lead to 15-7. His brother, Frank Aiello earned a 13-7 decision at 174 pounds to increase Wheaton's lead.
 
Dan Olsen(PICTURED RIGHT) , a 2013 All-American, made quick work of Chicago's Nick DiNapoli in their match at 184-pounds as Olsen won by fall in just one minute. Logan Walkup gave Wheaton a 30-7 lead in the team scoring when he won by fall (3:57) at 197-pounds against Chicago's Ryan Walsh. Chicago's Dave Gremling won by forfeit at 285-pounds to account for the final score of 30-13 in favor of the Thunder.
 
Wheaton will travel to the MSOE Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
