Wheaton men’s soccer team to host a NCAA Tournament Second Round match on Saturday

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton College men's soccer team has been selected to host Second Round action of the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday. Wheaton has a first-round bye and will host either Carroll (Wis.) or UW-Whitewater on Saturday at Joe Bean Stadium in the tournament's second round at 6:00 p.m.

Wheaton earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, by winning the CCIW Tournament last Saturday. The Thunder defeated Elmhurst 5-2 in the CCIW Tournament Championship match on Saturday. Wheaton heads into Saturday's Second Round match with an 18-3-0 record on the season. The Thunder posted a 6-1-0 record in CCIW play during the regular season to win the program's 19th CCIW Championship.

The Wheaton men's soccer program has made 34 NCAA appearances since the Division III Men's Soccer Tournament began in 1974 and is second in the tournament's history for most appearances. Wheaton is 44-30-3 all-time in the postseason, with five Final Four appearances and National Championships in 1984 and 1997. 

Admission for Saturday's match is for $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, $2 for ages 3-12. No free passes will be accepted.
