Head coach
Mike Swider and the Wheaton College football staff have announced the addition of 33 newcomers that have submitted their deposit to attend Wheaton College, with the intent to play for the Thunder football team beginning in the fall of 2012.
Swider says of the incoming group, “Once again the Wheaton football staff is genuinely excited about our 2012 recruiting class, which includes 30 freshmen and three transfers. The freshmen represent 14 different states, coming from as far away as Washington, California, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. However, we also made a big splash in the local scene as eight athletes from the DuPage Valley Conference will be joining us, including five players who earned First Team All-DVC recognition."
The longtime Thunder head coach continues, “These 33 new players meet all of our position needs and will join our 80 returning athletes to form the largest team we have ever had. However, at Wheaton, we are well aware of the fact that character over four years matters more than numbers. We are confident that these new players will graduate from Wheaton, while representing the institution well. That has been the key to our success.”
