Six Thunder football players earn D3football.com All-North Region honors

Six members of the Wheaton College football team have been named to the 2012 D3football.com All-North Region Team. Wheaton posted an 8-2 record this season with a 6-1 mark in conference play to win a share of the conference crown.

Wide receiver Mark Hiben (PICTURED LEFT) earned First Team All-Region recognition. Hiben, a two-time All-CCCIW selection, had a team-high 961 receiving yards, on 64 receptions, with 11 touchdowns this year. He averaged 15 yards per catch and 120.1 receiving yards per game. Hiben is ranked 10th among all Division III receivers in receiving yards per game (120.13 YPG) and 12th in Division III in receptions per game (8.0 RPG).

A pair of Thunder defensive players earned First Team All-Region recognition as senior Garrett Cook earned First Team honors at safety and junior Brandon Dykstra was tabbed at defensive tackle. Cook led the Thunder in tackles this season, with 72 tackles, including 55 solo stops. He made two interceptions, with five pass break-ups. Dykstra, a two-time All-CCIW selection, made 36 tackles this fall, with 8-1/2 tackles for lost yardage (-30 yards) and four quarterback sacks.

Jordan Roberts (PICTURED RIGHT) earned Second Team All-Region accolades at quarterback. Roberts completed 201 of his 286 passing attempts this season for a completion percentage of 70.3% and passed for 2,500 yards and 29 touchdowns. He broke his own school-record for single-season completion percentage with his effort this season. Roberts is ranked fifth in Division III in passing efficiency with a mark of 173.67 and he is ranked 16th in the nation in points responsible for with a contribution to 19.2 points per game this year. In three years at Wheaton, Roberts has thrown for 4,921 yards with 45 touchdown passes. He has completed 350 of his 512 passing attempts for a school-record 68.4% career completion percentage. He is ninth in school history in passing yards and his 40 career touchdown passes is sixth-most in school history.

Justin Swider
Senior Pat Dansdill (PICTURED LEFT) earned a Second Team All-North Region nod at linebacker. Dansdill was second on the Thunder this season with 67 total tackles, including 43 solo stops and nine tackles for loss (-27 yards). In four seasons with the Thunder Dansdill has tallied 143 total tackles, with 12.5 tackles for lost yardage (-40) yards.

Junior Justin Swider (PICTURED RIGHT) was tabbed as a Third Team All-Region pick as a kick returner. Swider returned 20 kickoffs this fall for 537 yards, averaging 26.9 yards per return, ranking 12th in Division III in yards per return.
