Thunder football team places 13 student-athletes on the All-CCIW Football Team

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference football team on Tuesday, with 13 members of the Wheaton College football team earning selections. Wheaton players earned nine First Team honors with four Thunder honorees on the Second Team. Six of Wheaton's All-Conference selections were on the defensive side of the ball, with five on offense and two on special teams. Wheaton posted an 8-2 record this season with a 6-1 mark in conference play to win a share of the conference crown.

Jordan Roberts
Wide receivers Morgan Cook and Mark Hiben (PICTURED LEFT) were both named First Team All-Conference picks on offense. Hiben, a two-time All-CCCIW selection, had a team-high 961 receiving yards, on 64 receptions, with 11 touchdowns this year. He averaged 15 yards per catch and 120.1 receiving yards per game. In Wheaton's seven CCIW games, Hiben caught 57 passes for 889 yards with nine touchdowns as he averaged 15.6 yards per catch. Hiben led the CCIW with an average of 127 receiving yards per game in conference action. Cook made 64 catches this year, for 918 yards, with 11 touchdown grabs as he averaged 14.3 yards per catch. Cook caught 46 passes in CCIW play this fall with 676 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.  He ranked third in the CCIW in receving yards per game this year with 96.6 yards per game.

Spencer Clark
Quarterback Jordan Roberts (PICTURED RIGHT) earned First Team All-CCIW recognition. Roberts completed 201 of his 286 passing attempts this season for a completion percentage of 70.3%. Roberts passed for 2,500 yards and 29 touchdowns. He broke his own school-record for single-season completion percentage with his effort this season. In seven conference games Roberts completed 150 passes on 212 attempts (70.8%) for 1,962 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Jesse Peterson
Sophomore Spencer Clark (PICTURED LEFT) and senior Jesse Peterson each earned All-CCIW recognition on the offensive line. Clark, Wheaton's center, earned a First Team All-CCIW nod. Peterson (PICTURED RIGHT) took a Second Team spot as starter at tackle for the Thunder. The duo were an instrumental part of a Thunder offense that averaged 478.2 yards of offense per game, with 315.5 passing yards per game and 162.7 rushing yards a game. Wheaton finished the regular season ranked 17th in Division III in total offense (478.2 YPG), 16th in the nation in passing offense (315.5 YPG) and 13th in scoring offense (40.0 PPG).

Seniors Garrett Cook (PICTURED LEFT) and Matt McReynolds each earned All-CCIW recognition at defensive back. Cook, a safety, was a First Team honoree. Cook led the Thunder in tackles this season, with 72 tackles, including 55 solo stops. He made two interceptions, with five pass break-ups. Cook recorded 52 tackles in CCIW action, including 45 solo tackles. Both of his interceptions were in conference play. McReynolds, a cornerback, recorded a team-best 10 pass break-ups, with 43 tackles, including 34 solos. In CCIW action he made 31 tackles (27 solos) with seven passes broken-up.

A trio of Thunder linebackers earned All-CCIW recognition as senior Pat Dansdill (PICTURED RIGHT) took a First Team nod, junior Brett Anderson earned Second Team recognition and Sam VanHeest was also a Second Team nominee. Dansdill was second on the Thunder this season with 67 total tackles, including 43 solo stops and nine tackles for loss (-27 yards). Dansdill made 44 tackles in CCIW action, with seven tackles for loss (-23 yards). Anderson made 60 tackles this season (35 solo), with nine tackles for loss (-56 yards). In CCIW action Anderson made 42 tackles, with 3-1/2 tackles for lost yardage (-20 yards). VanHeest made 32 totackles this season, including three for tackles for lost yardage.

Junior deensive tackle Brandon Dykstra (PICTURED LEFT)earned First Team All-CCIW recognition on the defensive line. Dykstra was a Second Team All-Conference honoree in 2011. Dykstra made 36 tackles this fall, with 8-1/2 tackles for lost yardage (-30 yards) and four quarterback sacks. In league action he made 25 tackles, with seven tackles for loss (-25 yards), including three sacks (-17 yards).

Justin Swider
Two Thunder players earned All-CCIW First Team recognition on special teams as junior Justin Swider (PICTURED RIGHT) was recognized for his efforts as a kickoff returner and sophomore Sam Cote was tabbed as an All-Conference kicker. Swider returned 20 kickoffs this fall for 537yards, averaging 26.9 yards per return, ranking 12th in Division III in yards per return. In league action, he returned 13 kickoffs for 336 yards, averaging 25.8 yards per return. Cote converted eight of 13 field goal attempts this season, with 50 PAT's on 52 attempts. As a punter this season, Cote kicked 20 punts for 841 yards, averaging 42 yards per punt, including eight inside the 20-yard line.
