Katie Iser and Lesley Guenard earn First Team All-Region honors

–Wheaton College softball standouts Katie Iser and Lesley Guenard have been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes Region Team. Both players were selected as First Team outfielders, as they helped lead Wheaton to a record of 23-17-1 this season.

Senior outfielder Katie Iser earned First Team All-Region honors after leading the Thunder with a .437 (62-142) batting average this season. Iser's 62 base hits this year established a new Wheaton single-season record, bettering the previous record of 52 that had been in place since 1990. The senior stole a school single-season record 26 bases, shattering the previous record of 18, which had also stood since 1990. Iser was second on the team this year with 32 runs scored. She led the CCIW in base hits in 2011 and set the conference's single-season stolen base record with 15 this year.

In her four seasons at Wheaton, Iser compiled a career batting average of .345 (146-for-423), with 86 runs scored in 158 games played. She recorded a school-record 52 career stolen in her four seasons and is third in the program's history with 146 career base hits. Additionally, the four-year starter in the outfield is tied for the program's all-time lead in career games played with 158.

Lesley Guenard
Junior Lesley Guenard earned First Team All-Great Lakes Region accolades in the outfield. Earlier this week she was named the 2011 CCIW “Player of the Year”. Guenard posted a .424 (53-125) batting average this season, with a school-record 44 runs scored and 42 RBI. She hit five home runs with a school-record 17 doubles and added 18 stolen bases. The junior led the CCIW in runs scored and was second in the league in RBI. She also tied for the league lead in doubles, was second in the conference in stolen bases and fourth in the league in base hits.

In her three seasons with the Thunder, Guenard has posted a career batting average of .368 (136-for-370), with 99 runs scored and 77 RBI. She has hit a school-record 42 career doubles, with eight home runs and 35 stolen bases. She is third in Wheaton's career record books in runs scored, fourth in Wheaton's in home runs, sixth in RBI and eighth in base hits.
