Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College head men's soccer coach
Dr. Michael Giuliano has announced the second wave of his team's 2010 recruiting class. This group of young men joins
Wheaton's previously announced recruits to comprise the complete Class of 2014. The young men have decided to attend Wheaton College beginning in the Fall of 2010 with plans of playing for the Thunder men's soccer team and head coach Mike Giuliano.
BEN HOLTZ
A goalkeeper from Allen, Texas, Ben is a member of Allen High School and the Dallas Texans soccer club. Ben was a member of the Texas Olympic Development all-state team and he was a two-time All-District performer in high school. Giuliano notes, “Ben joins
Ryan Seager to give us two quality options at Goalkeeper. He is strong, athletic, and ready for the next level.”
NATHAN JASPERSE
Nathan is a midfielder from Thousand Oaks, California, where he is a member of the Real So Cal USSF Academy team. He was named team MVP and Most Inspirational at Thousand Oaks High School. Giuliano mentions, “Nathan's team is playing this week in the USSF Academy National finals, so he knows what good competition looks and feels like. Often the speed of play and physicality of the college game can overwhelm a freshman, but I think that Nathan is ready for transition to college ball.”
THOMAS LENG
Thomas is a forward from Santa Rosa, California, where he plays on the powerful Santa Rosa Gold Club team. He was on the Northern California ODP squad for two years, and this year he led his Rincon Valley Christian High School team with 26 goals. Giuliano states, “I like forwards that are not afraid to play physical and mix it up, and that is certainly true of Thomas. I watched him play in Florida and in California, and he was equally impressive on both coasts.”
MITCHELL PAUR
Mitchell is from Orange County, California where he is a member of the Irvine Strikers USSF Academy squad. He attends El Modena High School, where he was voted “Most Athletic Senior.” Giuliano mentions, “Speed is key in our game, and Mitchell has plenty of it. He's very physical but also very skilled, which allows us to play him at any of the three lines.”
WILL PUGH
Will comes to Wheaton from Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Briarwood Christian High School, and played for the Birmingham United USSF Academy team. Three times he led his high school squad to the State Championship Match, winning it once. Giuliano says of him, “Will is a strong defender with a very good touch. We love his composure, which allows us to play him anywhere on the pitch.”
Giuliano concludes, “This group of great young men joins
the recruits we previously announced to make up a very, very special incoming class. They will help us stay nationally competitive for the next four years, but more importantly, they will help us continue to build a culture of excellence in the classroom, on the pitch, and in this hurting world.”
