Chicago, Ill. - The Wheaton College wrestling team lost a dual meet 43-4 at the University of Chicago on Tuesday.
The Thunder fell to 3-5 in dual meets while the Maroons improved to 6-7.
The lone victory on the night for the Thunder came at 184 pounds as
Justin Marble won via technical fall, 22-7.
"By the third period, he got six takedowns. He just broke the guy," Wheaton head coach
Jim Gruenwald said. "He's pushed guys to the brink and beaten them up pretty good this season. But this is the first time he's really used his conditioning and broke his opponent. You just saw him crumble in the third period."
The next closest match came at 133 pounds, as
Caleb Cardenas lost 7-4.
"We just got to fix the little things," Gruenwald said. "We need to focus on fine tuning things. I'd rather work these things out now rather than right before regionals and nationals."
The Thunder return to action with a double dual home meet at 6:00 PM on Friday versus Augustana College and Concordia (Wis.) University.
