Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College women's basketball team will travel to Holland, Michigan for the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament this Friday. Wheaton (22-5) will face Washington University-St. Louis (18-7) on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. (EST). Friday's other first round game will feature the host Flying Dutch of Hope College (26-1) versus Cornell College (Iowa) (20-5) at 7:30 p.m. (EST). The victors from Friday's two games will play each other in a second round game on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. (EST). Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors aged 60 and up, $5 for students and children aged 2-18; and children under two will be admitted free of charge.
Wheaton earned an at-large bid to the tournament for its 12
th postseason appearance. Head coach
Kent Madsen is guiding the Thunder into the postseason for the fifth time in his eight seasons at the helm of the Thunder.
Friday's game will be the eighth meeting in women's basketball between Wheaton and WashU. The Bears own a 7-0 advantage in the all-time series, including an 83-74 WashU victory last year against Wheaton in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in St. Louis. The Bears tallied a record of 18-7 this year and earned an at-large bid out of the University Athletic Association (UAA) to the NCAA Tournament for the program's 29
th-consecutive selection.
Sophomore forward
Hannah Frazier, the 2018 CCIW Newcomer of the Year, leads the Thunder in scoring this season with 15.0 points per game. A unanimous First Team All-CCIW selection this season, Frazier also averages 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game, with a 50.9% (146-of-287) field goal percentage.
Guard
Maggie Dansdill picked up unanimous First Team All-CCIW honors with a breakout senior season. Dansdill averages 12.1 points per game for the Thunder. The athletic guard also contributes 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Senior guard
Kelly Lawson is a three-time All-CCIW honoree, picking up Second Team recognition this season. Lawson contributes 9.7 points per game, with a team-high 36 three-pointers. Lawson averages 4.1 assists and 2.6 assists per game.
Junior
Devin Kyler earned Second Team All-CCIW recognition this year for her second-consecutive all-conference honor. The junior averages 8.9 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game this season. Kyler has a 50.3% (94-of-187) field goal percentage on the year. She contributes 3.7 assists, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.6 steals per game.
Guard
Jordan Myroth averages 5.2 points and a team-leading 4.1 assists per game.
Jill Berg contributes 5.8 points and 2.3 blocked shots per game with 4.4 rebounds per contest.
Jennifer Berg adds 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Kristi Demski averages 4.7 points per game with 33 three-pointers on 37.9% (33-of-87) shooting behind the arc.
Hannah Williams adds 3.9 points per game off the Thunder bench.
