Wheaton men's basketball assistant coach Arte Culver named head coach at Covenant College

Wheaton, Ill. - Arte Culver, an assistant men's basketball coach at Wheaton for the past two seasons, has been named the head men's basketball coach at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Culver spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons as an assistant coach for Wheaton head coach Mike Schauer. Culver took part in many aspects of the Wheaton program during his tenure with the Thunder.

Prior to joining the staff at Wheaton, Culver served one season as the scholastic coordinator and video coordinator at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In his duties at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Culver oversaw all academic aspects of the men's basketball program and coordinated video scouting. Before his tenure on collegiate basketball, Culver served one year as an assistant basketball coach and math teacher at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. Culver also served one year as the head varsity basketball coach at Rosehill Christian School in Tomball, Texas, while teaching algebra and geometry classes.

"I am absolutely thrilled for Arte. He is a high quality person and high quality coach, who I anticipate will do an outstanding job for Covenant," mentions Schauer. "He will be deeply missed here. I am really thankful for his work and his support of me personally and of the program over these last two years."

Schauer notes that a search will begin immediately for Culver's replacement.
