Brayden Teuscher is named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Men's Basketball Team

Wheaton, Ill.- Wheaton College men's basketball standout Brayden Teuscher has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Men's Basketball Team.  As a First Team Academic All-District honoree Teuscher has advanced to the national Division III Academic All-America ballot. The Division III Capital One Academic All-America Men's Basketball Team will be announced on February 24.

Teuscher is a senior Business/Economics major at Wheaton with a 3.55 cumulative grade point average. Teuscher leads the Thunder with an average of 19.9 points per game this season with a 48.1% (125-of-260) field goal percentage. Teuscher is shooting 35% (21-of-60) from three-point range and 90.1% (146-for-162) at the free throw line. He is second on the team with 2.1 assists per game and is also second on the squad in steals with 1.1 steals per game. Teuscher currently ranks 11th in Division III in total points (417), he leads the nation in made free throws with 146 and he is 10th in the country in free throw percentage (90.1%). In three seasons at Wheaton, Teuscher has scored 1,175 career points and is 33rd on the program's all-time scoring list.

The Academic All-District Team is a part of the Capital One Academic All-America program that honors student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level in athletics and in the classroom. Members of the eight First Team Academic All-District squads in each Division advance to the national ballot, where they have the opportunity to be selected for the Capital One Academic All-America Team. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA; a 2,000-plus member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. 
 
Through the years, Wheaton student-athletes have earned a total of 75 Academic All-American selections through the prestigious program. Since 2000, there have been 44 Academic All-American selections from Wheaton. Through the years, six players from the Wheaton College men's basketball program have been named as Academic All-Americans: Nate Frank (1994-95); Jon Nielson (2004-05), Michael Fiddler (2006-07); Kent Raymond (2007-08 & 2008-09); Tim McCrary (2011-12) and Tyler Peters (2013-14).
 
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges covering all NCAA championship sports.
