Wheaton men's track & field team takes fifth at the 2014 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships

won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:20.11, just ahead of the second-place effort of 9:20.93 posted by Augustana's Keith Sands.  Thunder sophomore Brendan Cole (PICTURED LEFT) won the CCIW Championship in the men's pole vault with a height of 14' 10-3/4" in the event.
 
Junior Brett Haffner (PICTURED RIGHT) took second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:53.72. Freshman Tommy Cole finished third in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles with a time 53.98-seconds. Thunder sophomore Nils Eastburg took third place in the finals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.81-seconds.
 
The Thunder men's 4x400-meter relay team of Eastburg, Kyle Williams, Derek Minkus and Tommy Cole finished third with a time of 3:16.93 that is among the top-20 efforts in Division III this year. Wheaton sophomore Christian Hollinger finished fourth in the men's discus throw with a toss of 150' 5". Hollinger also posted a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 50' 9-1/4" in the event. Sophomore David Harmon finished fifth in the decathlon with 5,392 points.
