Thunder track and field student-athletes compete at "last-chance" meets

RESULTS FROM NORTH CENTRAL'S GREGORY INVITATIONAL 

Wheaton, Ill. -
Several members of the Wheaton track and field teams competed at "last chance" meets on Thursday and Friday. The events are utilized to earn qualifying marks for the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA Championships will be held next Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. The NCAA will announce qualifiers for the NCAA Championships on Sunday at NCAA.com

Nils Eastburg posted the top performance by a Wheaton student-athlete on Thursday at the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifier. Eastburg  ran a time of 48.85-seconds in the men's 400-meter dash to finish second in the event. Tommy Cole finished fifth in the men's 400-meter hurdles at La Crosse with an effort of 54.78-seconds in the event. Brett Haffner posted a time of 3:57.93 in the men's 1500-meter run to finish sixth in the event.

Several  Wheaton student-athletes also competed at North Central College's "Gregory Invitational" in Naperville. Sophomore Jordan Tuin posted the top performance by a member of the Thunder women's track and field team at NCC. Tuin finished third in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:01.40.

Thunder sophomore Christian Hollinger finished fourth in the men's shot put at North Central. He had an effort of 15.12-meters in the event on Friday.
