led off the top of the fourth inning with a double and scored on a single to John Jensen-Johnson. Martin, who was hit by a pitch, later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three. A two-out walk to Taylor Howe and a single by Johnny Peltz loaded the bases but a groundout ended the Thunder threat. Northwestern again answered with a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth to retake the lead at 4-3.

A two-out single by Peltz (PICTURED LEFT) in the top of the sixth inning plated Kyle Mellinger to tie the game at 4-4. Northwestern took advantage of some shaky defense in the home half of the sixth inning and manufactured two runs to take the lead for the final time at 6-4. In the top of the eighth, another overthrow of first base allowed Mellinger to score his second run of the game and cut the lead to 6-5. A single and three walks in the bottom of the eighth gifted the Wildcats with an insurance run to make the lead 7-5 and Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week Jeff Quigley earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Wheaton will travel to River Forest on Wednesday afternoon for another nonconference matchup with Concordia University-Chicago. The Cougars, ranked #3 in the latest D3Baseball.com poll, defeated Wheaton 9-1 on April 15 at Lee Pfund Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
