COMPLETE LIST OF 2014 JOSTENS TROPHY FINALISTS

Wheaton, Ill. –
Wheaton College's Tyler Peters has been selected as one of 10 male finalists for the 2014 Jostens Trophy. The Jostens Trophy honors the most outstanding Division III basketball players of the year, considering basketball ability, academic prowess and community service.

Peters' selection marks the eighth time in the 17-year history of the award that a Wheaton player has been tabbed as a finalist. Joel Kolmodin was a Jostens Trophy finalist in 2003 and 2004; Jon Nielson was a finalist for the award in 2005; Kent Raymond made the final-10 in 2008 and 2009; Ben Panner was a finalist for the award in 2010 and Tim McCrary was a top-10 selection in 2012. No school has had more finalists than Wheaton since the award began in 1998 (LIST).

Peters is a Business/Economics major at Wheaton and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.51. The 2014 recipient of the CCIW's "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player Award", he and the Thunder will participate in the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament beginning on Friday.

Peters leads the Thunder in scoring with 20.3 points per game and averages a team-high 4.7 assists per game. Peters has shot 51.0% (176-345) from the field this year with 5.5 rebounds per game. His 547 points this year is 16th on Wheaton's list of highest single-season totals in school history and is only the 11th player in school history to record at least two seasons of 500 points or more.

Peters has not missed a game for the Thunder over the past four seasons and his 111 games played is the fourth-highest total in school history. Peters has tallied 1,489 career points to stand in 16th place on Wheaton's all-time scoring list. The senior is sixth on Wheaton's career assists list with 395 in his four seasons.
