Wheaton is ranked 45th in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings for 2014-15

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton Athletics Separtment completed the 2014-15 season ranked 45th out of more than 400 Division III athletic programs in the 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division III standings. The Learfield Sports Director's Cup is a comprehensive ranking of intercollegiate athletic departments based on their participation in NCAA Championship events.

Wheaton is one of four College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) member institution in the top-50. North Central (24th) scored the most points out of the eight CCIW schools. Illinois Wesleyan was 34th, Augustana placed 39th, Wheaton was 45th, Carthage placed 59th, Elmhurst was 144th and North Park was in a tie for 279th with Millikin.

Williams finished first in the standings with 1,053 points, Johns Hopkins took second with 1016.75 points, MIT placed third with 961 points, Washington University-St. Louis finished in fourth with 944 points and Amherst rouded out the top-five with 918.5 points.

Eight Wheaton programs participated in NCAA Division III Championships in 2014-15. Four Wheaton teams participated in NCAA Division III Championship events during the fall. The Thunder men's soccer team was the National runner-up, the football team advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, the women's cross country team was 19th at the Division III Championships and the women's soccer team made a First Round appearance. Three Thunder programs garnered points at NCAA Championships in the winter season as the women's swim team finished 12th at Nationals, the Thunder wrestling program placed 23rd at the Division III Championships and women's basketball earned points with its NCAA Tournament appearance. The Wheaton men's track and field team represented the institution at the Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the spring.

Wheaton has finished in the top-50 in each of the last three seasons of the Directors' Cup.
