Wheaton, Ill.- The Wheaton men's and women's swim teams hosted the Wheaton Quadrangular Meet at Chrouser Natatorium on Saturday. The Wheaton women's swm team won the meet with a score of 561 points. Wheaton's men's team finished in fourth place with 434 points in the closest men's meet since the meet's inception. Lake Forest won the men's meet for the first time.
The Wheaton women's 400-yard medley relay team of
Jamie Walitsch,
Erin Bagley,
Kirsty Nitz and
Sarah Coley placed first with a two-second edge over second place Kalamazoo.
Kirsty Nitz also won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.92 and the 100-yard freestyle in a 53.98. Bagley finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with 2:32.43, just behind teammate
Chelsey Long who finished in 2:31.95.
Carlie Herich (PICTURED RIGHT) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.30 and
Kelly Ormond was third in the 100-meter freestyle in 55.55 seconds. Herich was also second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.52.
Carline Dirks won a close race in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:04.65, just over a second better than Lake Forest's Loren Dutca.
Sarah Coley won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:15.36, less than half a second better than Colleen Orwin of Kalamazoo.
Erin Bagley was third in 2:17.53 and
Katie Deysher was fifth in 2:19.28. Herich and Deysher were fourth and fifth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:22.74 and 2:23.78.
Hope College finished in second place with 474 points followed by Kalamazoo College in third with 453 points and Lake Forest College in fourth with 256 points.
On the men's side, Lake Forest scored 500 points to win the meet. Hope was second with 453.5 points and Kalamazoo was third with 439.5 points ahead of Wheaton's 434 points.
The men's relay team of
Wills Francis,
Elliot Penson,
Jack Raymond and
Jacob Clement finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:36.16.
Korey Clement and
Jacob Clement placed fourth and fifth in a tight 200-yard freestyle race finishing in 1:48.12 and 1:49.00 respectively.Â
Korey Clement (PICTURED LEFT) won the 500-yard backstroke in 4:53.04, just beating Kalamazoo's Michael Allen who finished in 4:53.51.
Hayes Wilkerson and
Jack Raymond finished fourth and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, recording times of 22.26 and 22.47 seconds. Wilkerson also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.67 seconds, just ahead of
Wills Francis with a time of 49.01.
Elliot Penson won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:00.41, edging Samuel Freedberg of Lake Forest by .25 seconds. Penson was also third in the 200-yard backstroke with a tie of 2:11.33.
Jon Lait finished fourth in the same event with a time of 2:16.90.
Will McCauley finished fourth in 2:01.84. McCauley was fifth in the 200-yard backstroke wiht a time of 2:03.75.
