Tyler Peters has been named this week's CCIW Player of the Week in men's basketball, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Wheaton posted a 2-0 record last week, opening play at its own Lee Pfund Classic Tournament. Wheaton, ranked fifth in the d3hoops.com Preseason Poll, is now 2-0 on the season and will travel to Loras College on Tuesday night.
Peters was named the Will Landry Tournament MVP at the Lee Pfund Classic over the weekend. He recorded his first career triple-double on Saturday with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 73-62 overtime win against Wittenberg. He also had 12 points, two rebounds and three assists in just 13 minutes of playing time during a 78-46 win over Blackburn on Friday.
A 2013 d3hoops.com Preseason All-American selection, Peters is averaging 16 points and six rebounds per game early in the 2013-14 season. He has an average of 6.5 assists per game and a 57.9% (11-19) field goal percentage this year. He has scored 974 career points in his tenure with the Thunder and has averaged 11.3 points per game.
