COMPLETE CCIW ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Wheaton, Ill. – Three members of the Wheaton College men's basketball team have been recognized with All-CCIW accolades as announced by the league's coaches on Wednesday.
Tim McCrary earned his third All-CCIW First Team honor, and was recognized as the recipient of the “Fred Young Most Outstanding Player Award”. Senior #
Aaron Garriott# was a Second Team selection and senior forward #
Spencer Schultze# earned Third Team All-CCIW recognition. The trio has helped lead Wheaton to a 20-5 overall record this season, with an 11-3 mark in conference play.
McCrary was a unanimous First Team selection for the third straight year and his selection as “Fred Young Most Outstanding Player” marks the seventh time a Wheaton player has received the award. He joins previous Wheaton Outstanding Player honorees:
Wesley Pitts (1996);
Rob Hamann (1999);
Joel Kolmodin (2003) and
Kent Raymond (2007-09).
McCrary is averaging 18.4 points per game this season, with a 54.2% (166-306) field goal percentage. McCrary has averaged 8.6 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game. In conference action this season, McCrary averaged 18.9 points per game, with 9.6 rebounds per game and 3.2 assists per game. He also added 1.3 blocks per game in conference play and two steals per contest. The senior finished the conference season ranked in the top five in five different categories: rebounding (first); scoring, steals and blocks (second); and assists (fifth). McCrary recorded nine “double-doubles” this season with double digits in both points and rebounds, including seven “double-doubles” in conference games.
Garriott, (PICTURED RIGHT) a Second Team selection, was second on the Thunder in scoring this season, with an average of 12.3 points per game. The guard also averages three assists per game for the Thunder. In conference play, Garriott averaged 9.9 points per game, with a 45% (45-100) field goal percentage and 75% (30-40) free throw percentage. He averaged 3.2 assists per game in league contests, ranking him fourth in the conference in the category.
Schultze (PICTURED LEFT), a Third Team honoree, averaged 9.6 points per game this year, with 5.5 rebounds per contest. He shot a team-best 56.4% (92-163) field goal percentage from the floor, starting in all 25 games. In 14 CCIW games this season, Schultze was second on the squad in scoring with 10.6 points per game and grabbed 4.9 rebounds an outing, with a 57.9% (62-107) field goal percentage. In league contests, Schultze ranked third in the CCIW in field goal percentage and sixth in blocked shots (1.21 BPG).
